This is a typical picture of Ruby:  mouth open and squawking about something.  She is forever complaining she does not get enough treats!  

This little girl has been known to sneak on the porch and climb into the chimmeria to lay eggs.  We have found two recently.  

This little girl has beautiful markings that look similar to an IPA hen, but she is a dark caramel color.  She is well behaved and listens to Zeus for instructions.  She is a very good hen.

Very good layer and is eager to come inside at supper time.  She is a medium brown color with no significant markings, which is very similar to a darker IPA hen.  

This little girl has some beautiful markings all over which look like a lace covering her body.  She is a good layer and she's never late for dinner!

This sweet girl is the dark caramel color with a light shawl and tail feathers.  She is a good layer and is a sweet girl.  

Once the girls are out of their enclosure, they stay in packs and continually scratch and peck for bugs on the property.  Much of their protein comes from them foraging, but I make sure they have a steady, balanced diet every day.  

This little hen has no tail feathers and is the smallest of our entire flock.  She was the first hen to be named .  She is usually by herself.  It took a while before she would come back to the enclosure at dinner time.  But she finally warmed up to us and has no problem showing up for dinner time anymore.

These accumulated within a matter of seven (7) days.  I am getting anywhere from 18 to 20 eggs a day.  I've promised to bring a few dozen to work next week, and right now I have 12 dozen ready to go with me Monday.

I ran out of "repurposed" cartons, so I broke down and bought 20 cartons from the chicken place which cost $0.79 each, so it's not like I'm out a lot of money, but I also have to buy feed and treats and all the fruits and vegetables for my girls to give them a good source of nutrition.

It is a true blessing, being able to share with others.
